Usage of case studies of recent outstanding events to improve operational weather prediction models
|
abstract: |
A several recent outstanding events, i.e., the heavy snowfall event of Kanto plane at 2013.01.14, the typhoon landfall into
Kinki area (the special alert event) at 2013.09, the heavy rainfall event of the Izu islands associated with typhoon at
2013.10, and the heavy snowfall event of Kanto plane at 2014.02, are presented to compare the model predictions with
the analyses. It is shown that, by the use of tendency data calculated in the model, we can understand the features that
the model can reallyrepresent, and to figure out the issues to improve the performance of operational models.
