Infrared observations of the ice and dust in the small solar system bodies
|

Zodiacal light as well as emission results from scattered sunlight and thermal emission of interplanetary dust respectively. It dominates the diffuse radiation in the near- to far-infrared wavelength regime. The interplanetary dust originates mainly from comets and asteroids which are believed to be remnants of planetesimals and frozen reservoirs of the early solar nebula. Observations of these small solar system bodies provides us not only insight into the early solar nebula environment and the evolution of the planetary system, but also the perspective to compare the solar system with extrasolar planetary systems.
We observed small solar system bodies including comets and zodiacal emission with Japanese infrared satellite AKARI and Subaru telescope in near-to far-infrared wavelengths for the past ten years. In this talk, we present the results of the infrared observations and discuss the evolution of the small solar system bodies.
