New estimates of habitable zones:
A review of Kopparapu et al. (2013)
|
abstract: |
Kopparapu et al (2013) presented a new estimate on width of habitable
zones. Habitable zone is defined as the circumstellar region in which
life-supporting planets can exist. Kopparapu et al updated the
radiation scheme used by Kasting (1993), and obtained new
estimates of inner and outer edge of habitable zones. The inner edge
of habitable zone is determined by runaway greenhouse limit and water
loss limit. The outer edge of habitable zone is decided by a
condition that surface temperature exceeds 273K for CO2 atmosphere.
In presentation, I review Kopparapu et al (2013), and would like to
discuss with participants about the results of Kopparapu et al.
